03 — MY STORY
STORY
Hello, my name is Pia. I am from Finland, married to a Canadian.
The family roots are in Nova Scotia and I have become very fond of this place.
Nønni was like a daydream.
A vision of a place where creativity and community meet. A space for people to connect. The family house felt like the perfect setting for a seasonal pop-up vintage store and yoga shala.
Yoga entered into my life in 2011 through a Kundalini yoga class. This experience marked a significant shift in my path. I then went on to complete the Kundalini yoga teacher training and have been teaching ever since. Over time, I continued my training to include children’s yoga teacher training, a 200-hour Vinyasa yoga certification, and I am recognized as a mindfulness educator.
I am fortunate to teach in different settings and for different age groups. I work with both teens and adults in my local community. Along with this, I provide pastoral care and fill various roles in the outdoor activities program at an international boarding school.
I have had a lifelong love for unique clothing and vintage pieces. I am drawn to the process of discovery. The search, the unexpected find, the moment when something feels "wow”. My aesthetic is rooted in Nordic simplicity, shaped by my background in visual communication.
I look forward to the adventure ahead and to new encounters along the way.
NØNNI
The name nønni draws from the Finnish word onni — happiness or luck. The expression noniin is that untranslatable moment when something finally falls into place. When life simply happens, an acceptance of things as they are, at this instant.
The letter ø represents the truth that meaning is never linear.
In Italian, nonni means grandparents. Nønni has found its place in the family home.
